In the quest for better health, many people are exploring alternative therapies. One practice that caught my attention is the coffee enema. At first glance, it might seem strange, but this method has changed how I look at wellness. Like many, I was a little skeptical about the idea of using coffee internally, but after researching and hearing stories from others, I decided to give it a try. What follows is my experience with coffee enemas and how they could potentially help others.
What Are Coffee Enemas?
Coffee enemas involve inserting brewed coffee into the rectum. This may sound odd, but supporters say this technique can offer multiple health benefits, especially in detoxification. The caffeine found in coffee is believed to stimulate the liver, enhancing bile flow and assisting in detox processes.
This practice isn't new. It dates back to the 19th century and gained traction among alternative health practitioners. While mainstream medicine expresses skepticism, many individuals seeking holistic solutions have reported positive outcomes.
The Coffee Enema Experience
It is important to choose a high quality, enema specific coffee. I use S.A. Wilsons Gold Roast Coffee. Sterilize your enema kit (stainless steal or high grade silicone is best) and always use filtered water. I use 9.5pH water from my Kangen, K8. This water goes through the ionizing process of the machine, but is also filtered below the sink with a standard 2 step filter system. I am a firm believer in clean water and I will have to do a blog on that soon!

Once you have your coffee and enema kit prepared, then you want to find a comfortable place near the toilet to administer the enema - further directions below. You want to allow around an hour to prepare and have the coffee cool to room temperature, so I will prepare my coffee in the morning while I am doing other things around the house.
Who Could Benefit from Coffee Enemas?
Cancer Warriors
Many people undergoing cancer treatments look for complementary methods to ease symptoms. Coffee enemas have gained popularity among these individuals, particularly for managing side effects like nausea. Some reports indicate that after just a few sessions, people experience a 30% reduction in nausea and an increase in energy levels.
Remember, my testimonial and sharing is not medical advice. I hate that when you ask your practicioner, you might get deterred from trying this method. I will say that there is a lot of fear mongering on many holistic and home remedies. You really have to follow your own instincts to figure out what works for you. I have had nothing but relief from this practice. I believe that this practice has been key to helping maintain my liver and immune function.
Health Enthusiasts
For those dedicated to wellness, coffee enemas may be a valuable tool for detoxification. They are particularly appealing for anyone following strict diets, such as ketogenic or paleo. Benefits like improved digestion, reduced bloating, and better regularity are frequently mentioned by users.
So in summary, the literature says that the following peoples could most benefit: individuals with liver detoxification needs, cancer patients, people seeking digestive relief, individuals with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia, as well as those following alternative health regimens, ie. cancer treatment protocol support.
How to Prepare for a Coffee Enema
Gather Your Supplies: You will need organic coffee (light to medium roast is best), distilled water, an enema kit, and a timer. (S.A. Wilsons)
Brew the Coffee: Brew 1-2 tablespoons of coffee in 3 cups of distilled water. Let it cool to a comfortable temperature. *I bring 2 Tbsp to boil in 2 cups of water, then simmer for 10 min and then add 2 cups more and let cool.
Set Up Your Enema Kit: Ensure your enema kit is sanitized and ready to go. Using lubricant on the nozzle can help make the process smoother, coconut oil as an example.
Find a Comfortable Position: Lying on your right side is recommended as this position allows the coffee to flow more easily towards the liver.
Administer the Enema: Slowly insert the nozzle and allow the coffee solution to flow into your rectum. Hold it for 10-15 minutes to maximize absorption. This amount of time might be challenging to start. Work your way towards this goal. Trying after a bowel movement and or starting with a warm water flush can help.

Release and Rinse: After holding the enema, release it in the toilet. Follow up with HYDRATION! You can enjoy herbal teas or water to stay hydrated.
Risks and Precautions
While my experience was positive, potential risks must not be overlooked. Overuse of coffee enemas can cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, or dependency. Starting slow and paying attention to how your body reacts is wise.
It’s equally important to discuss this practice with healthcare professionals, particularly for those with gastrointestinal conditions or those receiving medical treatments. Everyone’s health varies, and understanding your unique situation is vital.
Final Thoughts
In my journey, coffee enemas have proven to be a beneficial experience within the realm of my health and wellness. While this practice might not suit everyone, I found it beneficial in detoxifying my body and enhancing my overall vitality. They are a keeper!
For cancer warriors and health enthusiasts alike, exploring alternative therapies can be empowering and enlightening. Stay informed, take it slow, and most importantly, listen to your body. If you're thinking about adding coffee enemas to your routine, take the time to research, consult healthcare professionals, and approach the practice with open-minded curiosity.
